With autumn well and truly here, our thoughts have turned to slowly cooked casseroles on the campfire, kicking our way through heaps of crimson leaves and curling up with a good book by the wood burner. Glamping might not be the first thing on your agenda once the dark nights set in but actually, a king-size bed in a cosy cabin is made even cosier after a long, brisk hike – as long as you’ve got the wood burner going that is! So here are 10 of our favourites – Canopy & Stars’ perfect places to celebrate everything we love about autumn.
Caban Cader – Powys

Jake’s Place – Devon
A cabin filled with handmade or upcycled treasures, Jake’s Place is a wonderful base to partake in lots of autumnal exploration. Walk along blustery coastal paths, take the steam train to Agatha Christie’s house or give a helping hand with the animals on the farm before cooking supper on the campfire at the bottom of the garden and having a long, hot soak in the bath tub big enough for two.

Dimpsey – Somerset
Sweetly named after a West Country word for the dreamy half-light that comes at twilight or dusk, Dimpsey was designed by local artisans and host Emma festooned it with cosy yesteryear treasures and vintage pieces. Light the wood burner then lounge on the daybed and listen to the owls, or retreat to the comfy double bed with a pot of tea, a book and a plate stacked high with buttered toast.
