The Christmas Dinner: A feast to end all feasts that only happens but once a year. It’s a true celebration and whist it’s earned a bad rep for being a stress, it can be the most magical part of Christmas day.
Whilst we can’t advise you on michelin starred sprout cookery, we can definitely help you set the tone with a Christmas table that will have everyone feeling excited, festive and ready to celebrate.
The 'All is Calm' Table
If you like things pared back and love texture and a muted palette, this is the look for you. Use lots of layers of the same colour and focus on details such as the delicate pearl edging of these serving bowls.
Your Base
Layer up a mix of vintage and new tablecloths and let them drape as they like. This look isn’t tidy but luxurious in its plentifulness.
Your Mid Levels
Use jugs as vases and cake stands to display baubles so that there’s a mixture of levels on your table.
Your Top levels
Hang white paper stars and foliage rich garlands for an etherial and theatrical finishing touch.
Top Tip: A secondary calm tone such as a eucalyptus green will lift this style to another level.
The 'Disco Diva' Table
If you just cant resist colour clashing, bold pattern and shiny metallics then you must be a dico diva! More is more on this style, don’t be afraid to mis-match colours and textures - have some fun!
Your Base
Go for clasing table linens and mix patterns up such as stripes and checks. Treat your table as a giant tree - hang garlands around the sides and sprinkle baubles on top.
Your Mid Levels
Bring in bright vases and colour-pop dinner candles so the eye moves around your scene.
Your Top levels
Hang bauble garlands and mis-matching paper chains over the table in varying swoops for a sense of table zoning from the rest of the room.
Top Tip: Using white plates can ground this look so that nothing distracts from your styling.
The 'Classic' Table
If Christmas for you means red and green then we’ve got you. Sticking to a white base of linens and plates means you can add touches of festivity at the level you want.
Your Base
Use a monotone base such as green or white to set a calm and classic scene. Match napkins and finish those with some red velvet ribbon.
Your Mid Levels
Nip round the back of your tree and trim a few sprigs of fir. You can then use these branches to hang gold and silver baubles off for a gorgeous centrepiece.
Your Base Levels
Hang paper decorations in classic shades of green and red for some drama.
Top Tip: Add some extra sparkle using candles or fairy lights to take this look to a magical place.
